Professional Supervision

DR MATTHEW SHORROCK – Qualified clinical supervisor (PTSTA), UKCP registered psychotherapist, Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC) registered Applied Psychologist, & BPS Chartered Psychologist.

As Clinical Director at the Mind Institute, I supervise all supervision offered at the institute.

I would describe my supervisory style as humanistically orientated, grounded within a research-informed, integrative (pluralistic) framework. Supervision is specifically tailored to meet the needs of supervisees and their clients. My own (‘home-base’) core modalities, include transactional analysis, person-centred, CBT, ACT, and psychoanalytic.

I am very much interested in integrated approaches to supervision, that take a 360 degree approach in attending to the micro and meta-level experience of client, supervisee and supervisor.


Supervision models we like to use include the Pluralist Model (Cooper & McCleod, 2007), and also the Seven Eyed Model (Hawkins & Shohet, 2000). For instance, as with the latter model (developed by Shorrock, 2014) key areas addressed within supervision include:
